If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in bed with a mosquito.

Bette Reese

You no doubt have heard that quote before. And last night, at sometime after midnight, I was reminded how effective a mosquito can be. It woke me up, and I was shooing it, waving my arms madly trying to get rid of it.

By now I was totally awake, I then started thinking about this Bette’s quote: if you think you’re too small to be effective, be a mosquito. Consider the nuances, the subtleties in your processes and relationships, and the small differences you can make to ensure better productivity.

Yes, the mosquito is annoying, potentially life-threatening, that’s not what I’m suggesting you do for improving productivity. Small consistent changes lead to big transformations and, like the mosquito, if you persist you will get your prize.

Productive Leadership Tips:

📌 You don’t need to be loud or pushy to be effective! You do have to be heard: choose your messages and methods to showcase you in your best light.

📌 Think about who you need to influence and how they might best be impressed and influenced – communicate to be understood. How might the other person or people prefer to receive information, what sort of information do the people need to make a decision. Consider how to present that information …

📌 You don’t need to have a specific title, experience, qualifications to make an impact!

I’d love to know what you think…
