P&M 28: Managing Self Coaching with Management Success Cards
Have you walked out of a meeting or an exchange with someone and thought:
“Argh, I couldn’t have handled that any worse, what was I thinking?”
“Wow, that was brilliant! Now, what did I do so I can do that again!”
These two scenarios are just one of the reasons why I created Managing Self cards in the set of Management Success Cards. So let’s get into the coaching with the cards:
Card 1: If your team could suggest it to you, what one aspect of your professional development would they identify? How will you now work towards developing that?
Card 2: Rate yourself out of a possible score of 10, on how well you manage your workload? How often do you say ‘no’? What will you do today to give some balance back to your day-to-day?
Card 3: In a crisis, how would others describe your behaviour? What valuable information does this give you to consider?
Card 4: Write down five main elements or requirements of your job, now rate yourself out of a possible 10 on how effective you are in each of thee job elements. Over the next week, what will you do to work towards achieving a score of 10 for each element?
Card 5: Finish this sentence: Over the next three months, my professional development goal will be… and I will know I’ve achieved it because I…
