How much do your meetings cost you?

Do the math: add up the following:

Your hourly rate x number of hours spent preparing for, running/attending, following up a meeting


Resources you used: room, technology, paperwork, refreshments, travel … 


Hourly rate of all attendees x number of hours spent preparing for, attending, following up a meeting  

= $ouch!

  • One US study calculate that the average meeting costs $658, not including travel.
  • Add to this other statistic from another another piece of research: 91% of those interviewed admitted to daydreaming during meetings!

This all paints a fairly dim image of meetings being productive!

Meetings however are an important way to share critical information, strategise and engage with more than one person at a time. It’s fair too ay we’re not getting rid of meetings any time soon, so you need to make your meetings more effective, more engaging, more productive.
